Bhubaneswar: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) lauded the Odisha Government on its achievements for transforming the urban sector in the State.
A high-level delegation from the BMGF led by Mr. Rodger Voorhies, President – Global Growth & Opportunity, visited sites of several urban initiatives in Bhubaneswar.
The delegation visited the urban initiatives including Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM), GARIMA, MUKTA and JAGA Mission on Tuesday. It was followed by a presentation with an intent to walk them through the transformative journey of Odisha over the past 5 years, the Housing & Urban Development Department said.
The Gates Foundation acknowledged and complimented the State and the Housing & Urban Development Department on the achievements for transforming the urban sector in the State through pioneering innovative models of transformation.
It also recognized the wide-scale partnership with Women, Transgender and Mission Shakti groups across the urban value chain.
The SHG members shared with the delegation on how the partnership has helped in positively establishing their gender identity and in providing a dignified source of livelihood.
