Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal on Tuesday assigned responsibilities to senior party leaders for the upcoming bye-election to the Padampur Assembly constituency in Bargarh district scheduled to be held on December 5.
As per reports, Prasanna Acharya and Sushant Singh will be in charge of campaign management in the constituency for the BJD in the by-election.
While Niranjan Pujari will be in charge of Padmapur block, Naba Kisore Das in charge of Paikmal and Rajendra Dholakia in charge of Jharbandh.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) last Saturday announced the date for by-election to the Padampur Assembly constituency in Bargarh district.
The by-poll will be held on December 5. A notification in this regard will be issued on November 10.
As per the schedule, the intending candidates can file their nomination papers on November 17. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is November 21. The votes will be counted on December 8.
The Padampur by-poll is necessitated after the demise of sitting BJD MLA Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha last month.
