BMC in Action Mode to Deal with Emergency Situation Due to Torrential Rain

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation arising due to the torrential rain in the capital city.

The BMC team is in the field to respond to any unpleasant emergency situation in the wake of incessant rain this evening.

Although water pumps are deployed beforehand, about 25 pump-sets from Fire and BMC have been engaged.

Evacuation of few slum residents to safety places, of the localities and food arrangements have been ensured. Team BMC led by Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange is moving to the waterlogging areas where citizens are consoled not to be panic.

About 25 pump sets have been engaged. Over 280 people have been evacuated from ward 54 to R.K.Mission School under SE zone. Evacuation has been done in ward 62 and 46, one area in Rajivnagar. Evacuation is continuing under SW zone.Waste collection vehicles, JCB, and other apparatus have been deployed.

Fire Service is assisting the BMC in pumping out water at different points in Bhubaneswar using heavy pumps. The operations are being supervised by senior officers.

1929 call centre have received about 60 calls related to water logging. Local corporators have been proactively involved in to combat the emergencies, the BMC said.
