Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) held a crucial meeting today with cesspool operators and workers to underscore the significance of faecal waste management. The meeting aimed to address violations and enhance the quality of work, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between departments and community involvement highlighting the significance of community-based faecal waste management as a positive example.
BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange issued key instructions to the operators, stressing the importance of compliance and responsible conduct. The instructions included allowing only registered vehicles for operations, with strict actions to be taken against unauthorized vehicles. The mandatory installation and tracking of GPS systems were emphasized for effective monitoring. It was strictly prohibited for any individuals to enter the septic tank, and non-compliance would result in punishment. The operators were reminded to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as prescribed under the Garima Scheme. Proper disposal of septage at designated locations was emphasized, and operators were urged to follow all rules and regulations outlined in the guidelines. Daily reporting by the operators, in a specific format, for BMC’s data consolidation was stressed. An enforcement team was assigned to monitor the movement of the cesspool vehicles, ensuring adherence to guidelines. Lastly, the workers were reminded to maintain a cordial behavior towards customers, promoting positive interactions.
BMC is committed to promoting responsible faecal waste management and creating a clean and hygienic environment in Bhubaneswar. By collaborating with operators and enforcing stringent regulations, BMC aims to improve the overall quality of work and ensure compliance with the Garima Scheme.
