BN Pur Police Acts Swiftly To Arrest Accused, Returns Stolen Money to the Rightful Senior Citizen

Berhampur: Once again, the Baidyanathpur Police in Berhampur has did exemplary effort and was successful in arresting the accused who stole money from a senior citizen. The incident happened November last year when one accused Sitikantha Patro stole Rs 40000 from the complainant Prafulla Kumar Padhy of Sidhartha Nagar.

According to the Police, on 7th November 2023, at about 02:00 PM, Prafulla Kumar Padhy withdrew Rs.20000 from SBI Medical branch ATM, and kept it in a polythene bag along with important documents such as SBI ATM Card, 3 Passbooks, Post office Passbook and Mobile phone. When he came outside the Bank, one culprit misguided him by distraction and managed to take away the bag. After that, the culprit also withdrew Rs 20000 cash from HDFC Bank ATM as the PIN number was written on the ATM card.

On getting the complaint, a team was formed under the leadership of IIC Baidyanathpur Baba Sankar Saraf, ASI B.K Sunasogoda, Havildar N.Mahapatra, OAPF/102 A.Gamango and HG D.Patra. Through scientific investigation and analysis of CCTV footage, the accused was arrested and the entire stolen Cash of Rs 40000 was recovered and handed over to the victim Prafulla Kumar Padhy who thanked the BN Pur PS officers and staff.
