New Delhi: Amid shortage of critical medicines, medical devices and vaccines as the pandemic rages across the country, the Centre has given relaxation in procurement rules for containment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry said that it has exempted the public procurement of supplies required for containment of the pandemic from the applicability of the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order.
The exemption will be applicable till September this year.
All ministries have been allowed to float global tenders for less than Rs 200 crore for such supplies.
