City Artists Paint swachhata Hi Seva Message on Wall

Bhubaneswar : Mayor, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Sulochana Das has inaugurated the wall painting competition here at the food street near St. Joseph School, Bhubaneswar.

About 60 artists of the city registered themselves to reflect their art talent in the competition. On the occasion of Swachhata Hi Seva initiative and Swachha ta Pakhwada the programme was organised. The programme started at about 9 AM and finished at 1.30 PM.

This BMC organised programme provided free colour, brush, apron and other requisites to the participating artists. Before the artists start their paintings, they were oriented on Swachha Bharat Mission, swachha food street, hygiene and sanitation. Twelve teams were formed to reflect their creatives on the wall sites there.

City authority here, has religiously implemented the SwachhaTa Hi Seva campaign to involve all sections of the society. As premier ULB of the state, BMC is strategically organising series of community engagement activities for community ownership of city sanitation. BMC in a promising spirit, is involving local vendors and community members to ensure Swachha food street in the city. Besides, the aesthetics of the localities are also being taken care.

The street generally has good number of footfalls as the road side food bazar attracts the customers. The surrounding should appeal our citizens to keep their city clean and green. The city is owned by the citizens only, and citizens can unitedly keep its image through their voluntary participation in swachhata drive. Although city sanitation has made its stand in the country; still people’s participation will make the city scape more attractive encouraging the liveability index, told mayor. This is Swachha Bharat Mission’s 10th year and citizens should come out to celebrate this through their active participation in city sanitation, she added.

Participants from Dhauli Art college, B. K. Art college and wall painting artists of the city have created good images of swachhata on the walls. Winners would be felicitated in the special programme of Swachhata HI Seva on 2nd October 2024.

As RRR initiative, BMC is going to transform 140 garbage vulnerable points of the city into beauty spots. Creatives made out of waste materials will be used for aesthetic purpose of the places.
