Cuttack: In a significant decision, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the development project of Cuttack Chandi Temple in Cuttack district.
The Odisha Government will spend Rs 70 crore for the development of the ancient temple of Maa Cuttack Chandi, the presiding deity of Cuttack district.
The development work will be completed in a year, according to a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The development project has been included in the integrated development of heritage, monuments and tourist destination scheme under the 5T initiative.
Explaining that renovation of Cuttack Chandi Temple will play a significant role in the overall development of Cuttack City, the Chief Minister sought cooperation of the people of Cuttack for the implementation of the development plan.
The Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited (OBCC) has prepared the development plan to make the temple premises more beautiful.
As per the plan, the ancient temple will have a boundary wall and gates in all four directions.
A new Jagamohan, Yagyan Mandap, Chandipatha Mandap, Mundan Mandap, Hanuman Temple, and a new Kitchen will be built. Khondolite stones will be laid on the floor and the premises will be well illuminated, along with installation of CCTV cameras.
Besides, there will be a police control room, cloak room, prasad distribution system, drinking water facilities for the devotees. A guest house of travellers will also be built along with parking facility and landscaping.
Earlier, on the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian had visited the temple and held discussions with the locals and sevyats about the development of the temple.
