Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given his approval for setting up of a modern Library in Cuttack in memory of noted freedom fighter and socialist leader late Biswanath Pandit. The state of the art Library will come up at the Puri-Anugul Bus Stand at Badambadi Cuttack. The Government of Odisha will spend an amount of Rs 30,58, 31, 100 for this.
The decision has been taken after getting feedback of the people of Cuttack in this regard during the visit of the 5T Secretary to Cuttack. The Library will have a big reading hall. Students can prepare for various competitive examinations at the Library.
It is worth mentioning here that Late Biswanath Pandit was born at Dagarapada in Cuttack. He was imprisoned during the freedom movement. Later he joined the Samajwadi movement and worked lifelong for the welfare of the working class and mazdoors.
CM Naveen has expressed hope that the establishment of a library in memory of Biswanath Pandit would give due respect and inspire the public, especially the youth, to be aware of his contribution.
