Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched the much-awaited ‘Mo Bus’ service in the cities of Sambalpur and Berhampur.
As many as 15 buses will operate in both the cities. The Mo Bus will operate between Sambalpur-Burla-Hirakud in Sambalpur city. Similarly, this bus will run between MKCG Medical College-Engineering School-Railway Station-Berhampur University in Berhampur city.
On the occasion of the launch, the Chief Minister said that better communication is the basis of a prosperous future. The 5T initiative has transformed the transport system from villages to cities across the state. Starting from Mo Bus, LAccMI Yojana and Metro Rail Yojana are strengthening our efforts towards New Odisha.
The Chief Minister also said that the Mo Bus service will allow people to travel within and around the city in a convenient and cost-effective way. He also said that ‘Mo Bus Card Tap and Pay’ facility has been provided for Mo Bus in both cash and digital mode, and safety of passengers has been given utmost importance.
He said that 90 percent of Sambalpur Mo Buses employ women as conductors and Mo Bus service’s aim is to provide safe travel at low cost. He announced that the bus service facility will be available in all the cities of the state.

Sambalpur MLA Rohit Pujari, Berhampur MLA Bikram Kumar Panda, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, HUDD Additional Chief Secretary G. Mathivathanan and CRUT Managing Director Arun Bothra were present on the occasion.
