CM Naveen Patnaik Receives Capital Foundation Life Time Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership Qualities
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been conferred with the prestigious Capital Foundation Life Time Achievement Award in recognition of his distinctive and outstanding leadership qualities.
The award has been given by former Chief Justice of India N V Ramana at a function held at India International Centre Auditorium, New Delhi.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Odisha’s transformative journey began and the State witnessed rapid strides in every sector over the next two decades. His simplicity, kind-heartedness and impeccable integrity has won the hearts of the people of Odisha.
Naveen Patnaik joined politics in 1997, at a time when Odisha was going through a tough socio-economic situation. His simplicity, kind-heartedness and impeccable integrity appealed to the people of Odisha. He became the President of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which was formed after the death of legendary Biju Patnaik, former Chief Minister of the State. He became a Member of Parliament from Aska Lok Sabha Constituency as a Janata Dal Candidate from 1997-98 and as a Biju Janata Dal candidate from 1998-99 and 1999-2000. He served as Union Minister for Steel & Mines from 1998-1999 and Union Minister for Mines & Minerals from 1999-2000. In late 1999, Odisha was devastated by a Super Cyclone. It caused extensive damage to life and property across the coastal districts of Odisha. The finances of the State were already in a deep crisis. In this background, Patnaik took over as the Chief Minister of Odisha in March 2000. At the dawn of the new millennium, under the leadership of Naveen, Odisha’s transformative journey began and the State witnessed rapid strides in every sector over the next two decades.
In recognition of his distinctive and outstanding leadership qualities Naveen Patnaik is being conferred Capital Foundation Life Time Achievement award by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana in the distinguished presence of Justice A.K. Patnaik.
