Congress Demands Immediate Arrest of Odisha Governor’s Son

Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Saturday demanded immediate arrest of Odisha Governor Raghubar Das’s son Lalit Kumar for allegedly beating up the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) of the Raj Bhawan.

Strongly condemning the incident, senior Congress leader and MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati said that the police should immediately arrest the Governor’s son and his associates.

He said that a case should be filed under Section 307 of IPC for threatening to kill a government employee.

The Congress leader further said that the Governor was a former BJP Chief Minister. In the last elections in Odisha, he had helped the BJP to form the BJP government in the State. Now the BJP is in power in the state, so the police is hesitating to take action in the incident, alleged Bahinipati.

If no action is taken against the Governor’s son and his associates, the Congress will intensify its protests in the coming days. The party will also raise the issue in the Assembly, he said.

Earlier today, the Congress workers staged protests in front of the Raj Bhawan here demanding strict action against the culprits.

The opposition Biju Janata Dal has also vehemently criticized the State Government for its silence in the matter.
