Councillors Meet BJD President Naveen Patnaik after Defeating BJP Chairperson of Phulbani Municipality in No-confidence Motion

Bhubaneswar: The councillors of Phulbani Municipality met BJD President and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik after defeating the BJP Chairperson of urban local body in the no-confidence motion.

The councillors met the BJD supremo at his residence to take his blessings. They also discussed a range of issues pertaining to the development of Phulbani with Naveen Patnaik.

Greeting the councillors, Naveen said that the BJD’s commitment to serve the people of Phulbani is getting stronger.

Notably, the Chairperson of Phulbani Municipality, Smita Rani Mohanty of BJP, lost the no-confidence motion brought against her . The voting was held on Tuesday. As many as 11 of the total 13 councillors participated in the voting process. Eleven councillors voted in favour of the no-confidence motion, while one vote was rejected. The returning officer declared the defeat of the chairperson in the no-confidence motion.

The defeat is seen as a major blow to the BJP after the saffron party came to power in the State.
