Baripada: In a major success to the police forces in Similipal, at least 21 poachers have been arrested and 165 country guns and huge quantities of fire arms and materials have been seized by the police in the intensified anti-poaching crackdown. Speaking to media, Mayurbhanj SP B Gangadhar has said that, after continuous search operations and intensified efforts, the police has been able to seize these arms and raw materials after search operation in the 14 police station limits of the district. The police has also seized huge quantities of gun powder, Pangolin skin and deer horns. The investigations are on to ascertain how the poachers were getting the arms, he said.
During the first phase of the special anti-poaching operations, more than 30 guns were seized. In total, more than 200 fire arms have been seized by the police.
