Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian will visit Rourkela today to review the construction of Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, which will be the largest hockey stadium in India.
The officials will also review other development works in Sundargarh district.
Sports and Youth Services Secretary R. Vineel Krishna and NHM Director Shalini Pandit will be present during the visit.
The visit takes place a day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced Odisha’s sponsorship for Indian Hockey teams for 10 more years beyond 2023.
The Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium being developed Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) campus in Rourkela will be the largest hockey stadium in India.
It would be the second venue along with Kalinga Stadium for the forthcoming men’s world cup, which Odisha will host for the second time in a row.
Around Rs 120 crore is being spent by the Odisha Government for state-of-the-art structure with 20,000 seats which has been planned to offer unparalleled sporting experience for spectators and players during the match.
