Rourkela: Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra along with 5T Secretary V K Pandian and Sports Secretary Vineel Krishna are on a visit to Rourkela to review the preparations for the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2023. The officials will go to the Birsha Munda International Hockey Stadium and have an on the ground review of the various ongoing preparations. They will also discuss with the district administration and Rourkela Civic authorities on the various developmental activities of Rourkela.
After reviewing the preparations, Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra is also likely to hold a press conference at Rourkela airport at 11:30 am. Men’s Hockey World Cup will be held in Rourkela along with Bhubaneswar from January 13th to 29th. As the World Cup is being organized for the first time in Rourkela, various programs have been planned by the administration, Rourkela Municipal Corporation and the state government to make it a grand event.
Along with the International Hockey stadium, a state-of-the-art international swimming pool has been constructed near the stadium for the hockey players. The Olympic standard swimming pool has been equipped with a state-of-the-art RO machine to supply 6 lakh liters of clean water per day. A world class 225 room accommodation building has also been constructed which will be used to house the players and staff at Rourkela. It has been constructed near the hockey stadium for the accommodation of all international players and other staff during the Hockey World Cup.
Air-conditioned bed rooms have been constructed while CCTV, Internet, Wi-Fi facilities have been provided in the rooms. In addition to this, the rooms have also been built with the latest international level toilets and lavatories. More than one hundred employees and cooks belonging to the Taj Hotel have reached the stadium premises and started their work.
