Cyclone Jawad: Low Pressure Over Andaman Sea Becomes Well Marked

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that low pressure over south Thailand & neighbourhood emerged into central Andaman Sea became well marked today.

It is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over southeast & adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal within next 12 hours, the IMD stated.

The system is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm JAWAD over central parts of the Bay of Bengal during subsequent 24 hours. It is likely to move northwestwards, intensify further and reach near north Andhra Pradesh – Odisha coasts around December 4 morning.

Heavy rainfall likely in Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput under influence of cyclonic system; Wind speed to gradually increase after Dec 3 & reach around 90 kmph by 4th.

Warnings:

December 2: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
December 3 : Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely to commence over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south coastal Odisha from evening.

December 4 : Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places & extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Odisha, heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over adjoining interior districts of Odisha and heavy falls at isolated places over Gangetic west Bengal.

December 5: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places likely over West Bengal and adjoining north coastal Odisha and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and Tripura.

Wind warning:

Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph over southeast & adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Andaman Sea on 2 nd December.

Gale winds speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph likely to prevail over central Bay of Bengal from the early morning of December 3 and gradually increase becoming 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph over northwest & adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal from the morning of December 4 for the subsequent 24 hours.

Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to commence along & off North Andhra Pradesh – Odisha coasts from the mid-night of December 3 and increase gradually becoming 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph from December 4 morning, for the subsequent 12 hours.

Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph also likely to commence along & off West Bengal coast from December 4 morning and become Gale wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph from the evening of December 4 for the subsequent 12 hours.

Sea condition:

Sea condition would become very rough to High over southeast & adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Andaman Sea on December 2.

Sea condition would be High over central Bay of Bengal on 3rd December and High to very High over west-central & northwest Bay of Bengal from the early morning of December 4 for the subsequent 24 hours.

Sea condition will be rough to very rough over along & off North Andhra Pradesh – Odisha coast from the mid-night of December 3 and become High to very High from December 4 afternoon, for the subsequent 12 hours. It will be very rough to High along & off West Bengal coast from December 4 morning and High to very High from the same evening for the subsequent 12 hours.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into Andaman Sea on December 2 into southeast & adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on December 2 and 3, over west-central & northwest Bay of Bengal and along & off north Andhra Pradesh – Odisha- West Bengal coasts during December 3 to December 5, 2021.
Fishermen out at Sea are advised to return to coast by today, December 2 morning.
