Bhubaneswar: Landfall process of Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas started at around 9 am today and is expected to continue for 3-4 hrs, said Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena.
The Cyclonic Storm Yaas made its landfall at 9 am north of Dhamra and south of Balasore around Bahanaga block coast.
It is expected that by around 1 pm, tail end of cyclone will also be completely moving to landmass, the SRC informed.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that wind speed reaching 130-140 kmph gusting to 155 kmph along & off Bhadrak and Balasore, and 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph along & off Kendrapara likely during landfall.
Wind speed will decrease gradually after landfall becoming 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph by evening, it added.
