New Delhi: As many as five people were injured on Friday in the Jahangirpuri area of the national capital when a rashly-driven private bus hit around 6-7 two wheelers who had stopped under a flyover to take shelter from rain, an official said.
The injured were identified as Mohit (24), Rajesh (37), Chetan (23), Noordeen (55) and Kirpal (70). Of the five, Rajesh, Noordeen and Kirpal were critically injured.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Usha Rangnani said they received a PCR call regarding the accident after which the police staff immediately reached the spot and found that some two-wheeler riders were standing near loop under the Mukundpur flyover to take shelter from rain, when a private bus suddenly came and hit them while driving rashly and negligently.
“Five persons were injured and admitted in the hospital, out of which 2 sustained minor injuries and 3 were referred to higher centres for treatment as they sustained fracture injuries in legs,” DCP Rangnani said.
Accordingly, the police registered an FIR under section 279 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code at Jahangirpuri police station and began probing the incident.
“The alleged bus driver fled away from the spot and several teams have been formed to nab him at the earliest,” the senior police officer said.
