New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena on Thursday directed the Directorate of Training and Technical Education (DTTE) to examine the inquiry committee report on gross violation of rules by senior officials of the Delhi Pharmaceutical Science and Research University (DPSRU) in the recruitment of teaching faculties.
The report against DPSRU made strong observations alleging that the selection of faculties involves half-truths, manipulation, falsehoods, deficiencies, and irregularities contrary to law.
While considering the report of the Vigilance Department on the complaints of irregular recruitment of teaching faculties in DPSRU, the L-G asked the Chief Secretary to instruct the DTTE to examine the report within 30 days and recommend specific action to be taken as per law for gross violation of rules.
The L-G, while invoking the terms of Rule 19(5) of the Transaction of Business of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Rules, also directed the Secretary of Training and Technical Education to place the original file in the matter for his perusal.
Inquiring into the complaints, the Vigilance Department noticed major irregularities in the recruitment process held in DPSRU in 2017 and 2019. This included the recruitment of candidates who were not eligible due to insufficient experience, overage, not possessing the requisite educational qualifications in 2017. In 2019, most of the recruitment done had deficiencies in the eligibility criteria and pointed towards illegal/corrupt practices and favouritism.
The report also alleged that verification of the educational qualifications and experience certificates was not done after the appointment. The inquiry committee report has also stated that there was no approval from the competent authority for the relaxation of the eligibility criteria such as age or educational qualifications taken by the DPSRU.
