Depression Concentrates Into Deep Depression, Cyclone Likely By Today Evening: No Major Impact On Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Depression over South East Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Deep Depression and is likely to intensify into Cyclone Mandous by today evening. It is likely to reach South West Bay of Bengal off North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts by tomorrow morning. The system is currently concentrated into a deep depression and lay centred over southeast and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal about 770 km east-southeast of Karaikal and about 830 km southeast of Chennai. Due to its impact Tamil Nadu, Pudducherry and South Andhra Pradesh will experience extremely heavy rainfall. The cyclonic storm, once formed, will be named as “Cyclone Mandous”.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the system will have no major impact over Odisha and some places in South Odisha may receive scattered rainfall.
