Bhubaneswar: The life of a newborn baby in Kendrapara district was saved due to the intervention of Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian from Dubai where he was part of the Odisha Government delegation for the Investors’ Meet.
Despite his very hectic schedule and official engagements in Dubai, the 5T Secretary took all necessary steps to save the life of the two-day old baby.
As per reports, the child of one Purushottam Mohapatra of Khandapada area in Kendrapara district had respiratory problems. The baby was born in a private hospital in Cuttack. As the condition of newborn deteriorated, the doctors advised Purushottam to take the baby to a big hospital having ventilator facility. Financial constraints posed a major challenge before Purushottam for the treatment of his child. The helpless father desperately sought help from all possible ways to save his child.
Some volunteer organizations have brought the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister’s Office and 5T Secretary through social media.
Pandian, who was in Dubai for the Odisha Investors’ Meet, took all necessary steps to ensure proper treatment to the child. He personally called the Health Department officials and asked them to take care of the baby.
The child was taken to a leading private hospital in Bhubaneswar. On the instructions of the 5T Secretary, a team of specialized doctors is being engaged for the treatment of the child.
As per reports, the condition of the baby is said to be in stable and is recovering well. The treatment cost of the baby is being covered under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
Meanwhile, the people from various quarters have highly praised the 5T Secretary for saving the life of the newborn.
The family members of the child also expressed their deep gratitude to the 5T Secretary.
