DGP Sunil Bansal Reviews Republic Day Parade Preparations

Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal today reviewed the preparations for the 73rd Republic Day celebrations to be held at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg on Wednesday. The Full Dress Rehearsal was carried out today in the presence of senior officials. The celebrations will be held in full compliance to the COvid-19 guidelines.

The security set up has been strengthened around the Parade place with deployment of more than 25 platoons of forces. 75 senior police officials have been deputed to oversee the security arrangements for the Republic Day.

The police has sealed all the connecting roads towards Mahatma Gandhi Marg and barricades have been put up to restrict vehicular and traffic movement. Close Circuit TVs have been put up to keep 24 * 7 surveillance of the place.

Speaking to media, DGP Sunil Bansal said, keeping in view the Covid-19 situation, only ten contingents will participate in the Parade. Five layered security system has been put in place. For the first time, a Border Security Force contingent is also participating in the State Level Republic Day Celebrations. There will be no parade by any school students this year. IPS Rohit Verma will command the State Level Parade this year.
