Bhubaneswar: A former junior clerk of C.I of Schools, Dhenkanal has been Sentenced to two years of imprisonment and fine of Rs 20,000 in a bribery case.
Gagan Bihari Sahoo, Ex- Jr Clerk, C.I of Schools, Dhenkanal who was chargesheeted in a case vide Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal TR No 30/2017 U/s 13(2)r/w13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting bribe from a retired government employee for regularisation of his provisional pension, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal.
He has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs 20,000 for offence U/s 7 PC Act, 1988.
The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period 2 years and to pay fine of Rs 20,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months for the offence U/s 13(2)r/w13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988.Both the sentences are to run concurrently, the Vigilance said.
