Berhampur: The Digapahandi Police in Ganjam district has arrested a fake doctor from Dengavasta village today. The Police, on getting reliable information that a fake doctor posing himself as a renowned Orthopedic & Spine surgeon was treating patients at Babool Medicine store/clinic at Dengavasta chhak Digapahandi, acted promptly and arrested the youth identified as Subhrajit Panda. The accused Subhrajit Panda is a microbiology student who had hoped to make a quick money by pretending to be a doctor. After joining a clinic run by Babool medical store at Dengausta chhak, Digapahandi, he started treatment of patients who were suffering from Ortho & spinal problem. He issued prescriptions under caption and letter pad as renowned doctor having foreign qualification as specialized physician of orthopaedic and spinal surgery. He has no registration number of a qualified doctor as per the provisions of the Orissa Medical Registration Act. The Police has also seized the Letter Pad and visiting cards mentioning the accused as doctor. Further, Fake medical qualification documents, Aadhaar Card, Car, Stethoscope, syringes, and Medicines have also been seized.
Speaking to media, Ganjam SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M, said that in course of investigation, raid was conducted at the rented house of the accused at Nuabazar Cuttack and Ranihat Best polyclinic from where some flex and letter pad, medicines were also seized. The prescription prescribed by the accused Subhrajit Panda in favour of Smt Kumudini Sahu has been seized.
It was also ascertained that previously, the accused was arrested by the Chilkalguda police in Telengana for posing as a doctor and team member of the WHO at Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad. He was charged under sections 170/419/420/467/468 IPC/ Telengana Medical Practitioners Registration Act. He is out on bail in that case currently.
