Dipali Das Moves Orissa High Court Against Election of BJP Candidate from Jharsuguda, Seeks Disqualification
Cuttack: Former Jharsuguda MLA and Biju Janata Dal candidate from Jharsuguda during the last Assembly elections, Dipali Das has moved the Orissa High Court seeking disqualification of Tankadhara Tripathy, the winning candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In her petition filed yesterday, Dipali has claimed that Tankadhara Tripathy has filed false affidavit while submitting his nomination papers during the recently held Assembly elections in the state.
The BJP candidate did not mention the criminal cases pending against him in the affidavit submitted to Chief Electoral Officer of the state. As it violated the People’s Representation Act, his election should be declared null and void, she said.
Notably, Dipali had lost the 2024 Assembly elections to Tankadhar Tripathy by a slender margin of 1,333 votes.
