Puri: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the inauguration ceremony of Srimandir Parikrama Project to be held on January 17 in Puri, said Odisha DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi here on Monday.
Sarangi visited the pilgrim city to take stock of various aspects of the security arrangements for the grand event.
A four-layer security deployment will be in place. All necessary arrangements have been made from traffic arrangements to security for VIPs, security of devotees, smooth darshan by devotees, etc.
Around 100 supervisory officers, 250 officers of Sub Inspector and ASI rank, 80 platoons of forces including constables and home guards will be deployed, Sarangi informed.
Four bomb disposal teams, anti-sabotage teams, and three canine squads have been deployed to search for suspected objects and sanitize the area, he added.
Several senior police officers were present during the DGP’s visit.
Earlier, the State Government has announced a holiday on January 17 for all educational institutions and state government offices in view of the inauguration of the Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor project.
