Elections 2024: Ganjam Collector Urges Political Parties to Strictly Follow MCC

Chatrapur: Ganjam District Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida on Sunday held an important press conference regarding the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the ensuing General and Assembly Elections in the district.

The Collector has discussed with the representatives of various political parties and sought their active cooperation for the implementation of MCC in the electoral process.

In the press conference, the Collector gave detailed information about the election preparations in the district.

He said that the banners, posters and hoardings are being removed from all places in the district within 48 hours following the imposition of MCC by the Election Commission of India.

In Ganjam district, polling will be held in two phases for 13 Assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats – Berhampur and Aska.

There are 29.71 lakh voters in the district. Out of them, 15.31 lakh voters are male, 14.39 lakh voters are female and 281 transgender voters. The number of youth voters is 6.5 lakh. As many as 3077 booths have been set up polling. 424 Sakhi booths have been set up. 36 women lead booths, 39 youth booths and 13 booths for the differently-abled.  22,152 polling officers will be deployed for the electoral process. An election expenditure monitoring team has been formed to manage the election. For this, 43 flying squads, 42 static and 39 video surveillance teams, 19 expenditure observers have been engaged, the Collector informed.

He sought cooperation of all the stakeholders to ensure smooth, free, fair, peaceful and participative elections.
