Eyes On Roads: BSCL Operationalises ANPR And TVDS In Key Places of Bhubaneswar; Overspeeding To Attract Rs 7000 Fine

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to reduce vehicular accidents and traffic violations in the city, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited has installed the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and Traffic Violation Detection System (TVDS) at 13 places. The automatic system will detect traffic violations and overspeeding in the specific areas which will attract hefty fines upto Rs 7000. The Automatic Number Plate Recognition will detect overspeeding of vehicles and a fine of Rs 7,000 will be imposed on those driving vehicles at a speeds of over 50 kilometer per hour.

The state of the art ANPR and TVDS system has been installed at major traffic points of Bhubaneswar such as Patia Square, Power House Square, Kalinga Stadium Square, Capital Hospital Square, KIIT Square, KIIT Campus-3 Square, Sishu Bhawan Square, from Vani Vihar to Sishu Bhawan, Capital Square, Shastri Nagar Square, Rajmahal Square, Trident Hotel Square and Naka Gate Square.
The vehicle owners detected by the system will be sent a message of traffic violation and the penalty on their registered contact number. The fine of Rs 7,000 will be reduced to Rs 2,000 if the driver produces his or her valid Driving Licence. However, the DL will be suspended for the next three months.
