Family Members and Villagers Keep Fingers Crossed As Search For Missing Odia Jawan In Sikkim Continues
Dhenkanal: Even as the search and rescue operations continue in Sikkim’s flash flood affected area of Lachen Valley, villagers of Kendudhipa under Kamakhyanagar Block of Dhenkanal district in Odisha are keeping their fingers crossed and praying for the safe return of Saroj Kumar Das. Saroj was working with the Indian Army’s Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) as a Habildar and was among the 23 jawans who went missing in the flash floods. He had joined the force in 2012. He is a resident of Kendudhipa village under Kamakhyanagar block. A pall of gloom has descended in the village and the family members are waiting in despair.
According to sources, as the reports of flash floods spread across the nation, Saroj’s family members tried to contact him, but his mobile was not reachable. The Army officials later contacted the family members and informed them about Saroj’s missing. He was one of the 23 soldiers who were reported missing in the flash floods. The search and rescue operation by the Army is underway.
