Bhubaneswar: A first information report (FIR) has been lodged against Nayagarh district Collector Rabindra Nath Sahu for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 25 lakh.
As per reports, Chandpur Police has booked the Collector based on the complaint of a laterite mines leaseholder Sushant Kumar Barad under Ranpur Tehsil, who alleged that the official demanded Rs 25 lakh in bribes from him. Three others were also booked by the police.
The case was registered following orders of the Orissa High Court on a petition by the mines leaseholder, as per reports.
Barad has alleged that the Collector and three others visited Mayurjhalia laterite mine area on January 26 and demanded for bribe of Rs 25 lakh.
The three other persons have been identified as Dillip Kumar Samantaray, Deepak Kumar Routray and Ganeswar Mandhata.
Barad informed the Court that he filed complaints against the Dstrict Collector with the Chandpur police station. Since no action was taken, he approached the High Court, reports added.
