Floods in Mahanadi System: Two Lakh People Affected, 26 Thousand Evacuated Till Now: SRC

Bhubaneswar: Various government agencies have evacuated more than 26 thousand people from the flood affected areas of the state. More than two lakh people have been affected in ten districts.

Briefing the media, Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena has said that 90 free community kitchens have been opened in the affected areas to provide cooked food to the evacuated people.

Munduli in Cuttack is currently receiving the peak flow of flood waters and the same will continue till 3 AM Wednesday. The waters will flow into the seas by the evening 6 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday. There have been two breaches in Mahanadi river system. While 1366 villages are affected by the floods, about 237 villages are inundated in flood waters.
