Bhubaneswar: In a further boost to the Biju Janata Dal ahead of elections, former MLA and prominent Congress leader Anshuman Mohanty on Friday joined the BJD.
Anshuman Mohanty took the membership of the ruling Biju Janata Dal at an induction programme held at Sankha Bhawan, the party office of the BJD.
BJD Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das welcomed Mohanty to the party and said that his joining will give major boost the party in Kendrapara district.
BJD MP Manas Mangaraj and several senior BJD leaders were present on the occasion.
Mohanty, son of former state minister Nalini Kanta Mohanty, was elected to Odisha Assembly from Rajnagar constituency in Kendrapara district in 2014.
Recently, he has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress. He also resigned from the post of president of the Kendrapara District Congress Committee.
