Berhampur: Former Chatrapur MLA N. Narayan Reddy has been sentenced to life imprisonment in a 25-year old murder case.
Berhampur ADJ-3 Court awarded life imprisonment to 13 persons including the former CPI MLA in connection with the death case of a Police Reserve Inspector.
In May 1998, there was a violent clash between the people and police in a meeting in Sindhi village regarding the acquisition of land for the private company project. The Police Reserve Inspector died in the clash.
In this incident, a case of murder was filed against 22 people along with Narayan Reddy, of them 8 have died so far, as per reports.
After the court verdict, the former MLA said that he will go to the higher court to get justice.
