Former MP Tathagata Satpathy’s Social Media Post Raises Questions on Safety of Ratna Bhandar Jewellery; BJP Reacts

Bhubaneswar: Former MP Tathagata Satpathy’s social media post has raised questions on the safety of ornaments of Puri Srimandir Ratna Bhandar.

Taking to his social media handle ‘X’, the former MP made thought-provoking remarks on recent seizure of huge quantities of gold and silver from Bhubaneswar airport, questioning whether the ornaments were straight out of Ratna Bhandar.

“Straight out of Ratna Bhandar of Jagannath Temple to waiting private aircraft ?! Huge quantities of Gold (80+kgs) and Silver (200+kgs) with many other old artefacts seized earlier this evening near Bhubaneswar airport from a Bank ATM (replenishing) vehicle”, Tathagata Satpathy wrote on his ‘X’ handle.


The post has sparked wider debate across the State regarding the safety of the ornaments of Srimandir Ratna Bhandar.

Meanwhile, the ruling BJP has strongly reacted to the Tathagata Satpathy’s social media post, vehemently denying the latter’s allegations.

The incident is known to all. It is unbecoming of a person like him to create such a hallucination, the BJP spokesperson Dilip Mallick stated.
