Bhubaneswar: On the order of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, senior OAS officer and former Nabarangpur Additional Sub-Collector Prashanta Rout was given compulsory retirement from service on corruption charges.
The Chief Minister has always taken strict measures by adopting zero tolerance policy towards corruption.
It is worth noting that there are four corruption allegations against Rout and the departmental investigation is also ongoing.
Earlier, Rout was arrested in connection with amassing over Rs 5 crore disproportionate assets to his known sources of income.
During the raids, the Vigilance sleuths unearthed DA wroth Rs.5,21,09,659 (506%) including one multi storeyed building, cash over Rs.3.02 crores, deposits Rs.92.34 lakhs(including Rs. 38.64 lakh in 2 benami accounts).
Till now, strong action has been taken against 188 corrupt officials including Rout. These officers have been dismissed, given compulsorily retirement or their pensions have been stopped permanently, as per an official release.
