Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has seized ganja weighing 46 kg being transported to from Mohana area to Ichapur Railway Station using passenger vehicle and arrested one person in this connection.
The police also detained a juvenile allegedly involved in the smuggling of the cannabis.
The arrested ganja smuggler has been identified as Purna Chandra Mallick, Lekapadar village under Mohana PS limits in Gajapati district.
On the direction of Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M and supervision of Chikiti SDPO, the Jarada Police conducted raid at NH-16 near Sabardeipeta and apprehended the juvenile and accused who were in possession of ganja weighing 46 kg.
The ganja was being transported from Mohana area to Ichapur Railway Station using a passenger Tempo.
During raid two persons fled away from the tempo. Mallick was arrested and forwarded to the court and the juvenile was produced before PM JJ Board Berhampur, the police said.
