Berhampur: Kahnu Charan Pattnaik, Territorial Forest Range Officer, Digapahandi in Ganjam district has come under the scanner of Odisha Vigilance for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets.
Based on reliable inputs, the forest officer was intercepted by a team of Odisha Vigilance while he was plying to Berhampur from Digapahandi in his vehicle late last night and cash worth Rs 1.5 lakh, which is suspected to be ill-gotten cash, was found in his possession.
As Pattnaik could not account for the cash satisfactorily, the amount was recovered from him and seized, the Vigilance informed.
Following the interception, simultaneous searches are being carried out at three locations of forest officer from DA angle.
During searches so far, further cash Rs 3.5 lakh (apprx) recovered. In total cash seizure so far comes to Rs 5 lakh. Investigation is in progress, the Vigilance added.
