Ganjam: Five Arrested for Hurling Bombs on Houses of Village President, Gentry in Fulta

Berhampur: At least five persons were arrested for allegedly hurling bombs on the houses of village president and gentry in Fulta village under Rangeilunda block in Ganjam district.

The Nimakhandi police arrested Pinku Pradhan(27), Gagan Sasmal (25), Lingaraj Sasmal (30), Ganesh Charcha (22) and Papu Pradhan(25). All are from Fulta village.

The police said that there was a meeting in Fulta village on Wednesday. During the meeting a quarrel erupted between the accused persons and the village gentries. The meeting was stopped. Later in the night at about 11 PM, the accused persons and 10 others went to the house of village president Satyanarayan Pradhan and the village gentry Rama Sasmal and hurled hand bombs.

Due to the explosion the houses of both the village gentries were damaged. On getting information of the incident, the police team rushed to Fulta village. Seeing the police party, the accused persons who were assembled in the house of Kama Sasmal, tried to attack police team. During the search of the house four live bombs were recovered and seized.

The five accused persons were arrested and forwarded to court today. Steps are being taken to apprehend the other absconded accused persons soon, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M while adding that the investigation of the case is underway.
