Chatrapur: In a shocking incident, four persons were attacked by the villagers over suspicion of practicing sorcery.
The terrible incident took place in Madhiapalli village under Kabisuryanagar police station of Ganjam district.
It has been alleged that the wife of a man who was the victim of the fatal attack was beaten to death after she filed a police complaint.
As per the reports, one Rajendra Nahak of the village was returning from the river after bathing, some villagers picked him up and attacked him. Along with Rajendra, three others have also been attacked.
However, Nahak managed to escape from the village and was rescued by police. He was admitted to Aska hospital.
Meanwhile, police forces are raiding the village and efforts are still on to rescue the other three.
Earlier, a youth had reportedly taken their names, accusing them of practicing sorcery. The youth had claimed that he was possessed by a spirit, according to reports.
