Ganjam: Turubudi GP PEO Arrested for Taking Bribe from PMAYG Beneficiary

Berhampur: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested PEO of Turubudi GP in Patrapur Block of Ganjam district for allegedly taking bribe from a Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramina (PMAYG) beneficiary.

The PEO has been identified as Rajendra Kumar Behera.

Behera has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting undue bribe of Rs.6,000 from a PMAYG beneficiary towards release of last instalment of Rs.30,000 in connection with construction of house under PMAYG, already completed by her (complt) during year 2020-22.

The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the exclusive possession of the accused.

Following trap, simultaneous searches at residential house of Behera at village Banamali, PS-K. Nuagaon, rented house at Laxmi Vihar, 1st lane, Berhampur, PS-Bada Bazar and his office are being conducted, the vigilance said.

In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. Case No.10 dt.29.06.2022 U/s 7 P.C. Act 1988 as amended by P.C. (Amndt.) Act 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against Behera, the vigilance stated.
