Berhampur/Gopalpur: In a further boost to the organizational strength of Biju Janata Dal ahead of crucial panchayat elections, former Congress leader S. Dharmaraj Reddy joined the ruling party in Gopalpur Assembly Constituency in Ganjam district on Friday.
Inspired by the strong leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his people-oriented transformational works, Reddy along with his thousands of supporters formally joined the BJD at a mega programme held at Korapalli.
Besides, several BJP leaders and workers from the Assembly segment also took the primary membership of the BJD.
The new inductions took place in presence of BJD Organizational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das, Senior BJD leader and ST&SC Development Minister Jagannath Saraka and OSD to CM Dr. Gopabandhu Dash.
Speaking on the occasion, the BJD Organizational Secretary said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s people-centric welfare programmes and his commitment to build a new Odisha have inspired not only the people of Gopalpur but also throughout the State.
The people of Odisha repose their unpinching faith on the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, he said while welcoming the new members to the party-fold.
Addressing the gathering, Jagannath Saraka said the Biju Janata Dal is no longer a political party, but a social movement for the overall transformation in the lives of the people of the State.
He said that the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) smart health card scheme is a game changer in the healthcare service in the State as it enables the common people to get best medical treatment free of cost at the best hospitals.
After joining the party, Dharmaraj Reddy thanked the Chief Minister and said that he is being inspired by the pro-people governance through 5T and fulfilment of aspirations of 4.5 crore people of Odisha.
He further said that the BJD is by far the best regional party in the country, which fights for the cause of the people under the dynamic leadership of Naveen Patnaik and provides opportunities to serve the people with humility.
Ganjam District BJD president Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik and other senior BJD leaders attended the programme.
