Gopalpur Beach Festival: Berhampur Police Detains Youth for Spreading Fake Info on Online Sale of VIP Passes

Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has detained a youth for allegedly spreading fake information regarding online sale of VIP passes for Gopalpur Beach Festival.

The 18-year old youth, who is from Lanjipalli area of Berhampur, has created an ID in OLX and posted that VIP passes for Gopalpur Beach festival was available for sale.

On getting information regarding availability of Gopalpur Beach Festival passes in online marketing website, the police immediately swung into action.

This morning, the cops tracked the youth living in his uncle’s house in Gopalpur and detained him.

During investigation, the Police found that the youth is of unsound mind. He was using his sister’s mobile. He had created an ID in OLX which he learnt through YouTube, the police said.

Entire family members were also interrogated and they agreed that the youth was of unsound mind. Their house was searched and nothing incriminating was found. No tickets were available with the youth. After all verification the he was left in custody of his relatives, the Police said.

Meanwhile, Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M appealed to the people not to believe in rumors of passes available for sale. He also urged not to spread fake news and inform the police if any such information is received.
