Heavy Rains Disrupt Normal Life in Various Districts; Vansadhara River Breaches Danger Mark at Kashinagar
Bhubaneswar: With the Depression over the Bay of Bengal intensifying into Deep Depression, Many coastal and interior districts of Odisha are experiencing heavy rains. Western Odisha districts such as Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sundargarh are experiencing torrential rains from last evening and the IMD has issued Red warning for these districts. Also, the IMD has issued Yellow warning for 16 districts mostly rom the northern and western Odisha for heavy rains.
Eleven district administrations have declared holiday today for schools due to the incessant rains. All government and private schools and Anganwadi Kendras will remain closed in Keonjhar, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Subernapur, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Anugul, Nayagarh and Balasore districts.
Due to heavy rains, The Bansadhara river has breached the danger mark at Kashinagar in Gajapari District. The river is flowing at 54.90 meters against the danger mark of 54.60 meters.
In Subernapur, flood like situation continued and low laying areas witnessed water logging due to heavy rains since yesterday evening. Six gates of the Hariharjore dam have been opened to discharge the flood waters.
