Bhubaneswar: With an aim to make the college students and their family members aware about increasing cyber crimes, the Odisha State NSS Cell in Higher Education Department in collaboration with the State Police has organised a Webinar on “Cyber Safety Awareness” today.
Gracing the webinar as chief guest, Shefeen Ahamed, I.G., Crime Branch said that lack of awareness and the will to augment one’s income in a very short time are the prime causes of increasing cyber crime which is linked with smart phone and internet. We must be aware regarding the cyber crime and make others conscious to fight against such menace.
Asst. Police Commissioner Anjana Tudu was the Chief Panelist. She expressed that Internet is a two-edged sword. Users of internet in India have become 47% and cyber crime has become 40%. Greed, revengeful attitude have become the twin causes of cyber crime.
She advised to go to Cyber Police Stations utilising IT Act, POCSO Act, IPC Act and Cyber Security Police. One can register FIR by dialling 1930 or through cybercrime.gov.in, she opined.
In his welcome address Special Secretary to Govt. in HE Deptt. Ramakanta Nayak told that cyber crime has weakened the backbone of Digital World.
The State Government has undertaken an endeavour to aware people by introducing 34 Cyber Rathas.
Regional Director, State NSS Cell Sarita Patel moderated the Webinar and NSS Officer Ramesh Chandra Behera offered vote of thanks.
