How Will This Govt Function? Questions Bijoy Mohapatra

Bhubaneswar: Veteran political leader Bijoy Mohapatra has questioned the functioning of the newly elected BJP government in Odisha.

The veteran leader has raised his serious concerns about the working of the new government.

He said, “I am surprised how this government will function. The government is not doing the basic things that are needed to function”.

Countering the state government on the Ratna Bhandar issue, Mohapatra said that he does not know whether the new committee constituted under chairmanship of Justice Biswanath Rath Committee has all the information about the Ratna Bhandar. If the committee has all the information, it might not have proposed the breaking of the lock if the keys are not found, the veteran leader said in an interview to a regional television channel .

Justice Rath himself said that the key is there. The SJTA Chief Administrator has been directed to submit the key. Whether the key has been submitted or not by the SJTA Chief Administrator, the committee should make a public statement. This thing has been kept hidden from public, Mohapatra said.

The responsibility of the SJTA Chief Administrator was to present the key to the committee. Whether he did or not, he would have said it publicly. It should not be done covertly, he said.

A commission was constituted under the chairmanship of Justice Raghubir Dash. The commissioner’s report was not made public. It has been demanded many times in the past. That question would have been raised even today. Justice Rath would have studied the previous commission’s report regarding the Ratna Bhandar key. It is good if he has studied it. That should be made publicly. A status report on behalf of SJTA was to be submitted to the committee, Mohapatra said.

A month has already been passed since the formation of the new government. Till today, the appointment of Advocate General could not be made. Such an incident has never happened in Odisha in the last 50 or 60 years. As many Chief Ministers have come in the past 50 or 60 years, Advocate General was appointed a day after the oath taking of the Chief Minister. The Chief Justice of High Court has also expressed his concerns on it. Despite that the government is not appointing the Advocate General, Mohapatra said.

Meanwhile, the BJP has countered the Bijoy Mohapatra’s statement about Ratna Bhandar. “It is unfortunate that senior political leader Bijoy Mohapatra has criticized the one-month government. The BJP government has not failed, Bijoy Mohapatra himself has failed. Since 2000, he has failed in state politics. Mohapatra, who was opposing BJD, has changed his voice today for the sake of his son, the BJP said.
