Bhubaneswar: ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, has bagged the Outstanding Institution award at Outlook Agritech Summit & Swaraj Awards 2022, held at New Delhi today. Sri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare minister presented the award to Dr Saroj Kumar Swain, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar. This Award was given in recognition of outstanding research carried out by the institute. Notable technologies developed by the institute viz., genetically improved varieties like Jayanti rohu, Improved catla, Freshwater prawn (GI-Scampi), and ornamental fish (Shinning barb) etc. are helping farmers in doubling their income. Besides, the institute is also actively pursuing training and outreach activities to disseminate the technologies to farmers and other stakeholders.
Outlook AgriTech Summit & Awards 2022 is a platform for bringing together the top most political leadership, policymakers, thought leaders and Agricultural Technology companies from India and abroad for sharing the latest knowledge and recognizing the best performers in the country who have made a difference by using the smart technology. The event is organised by the Outlook Magazine and the Swaraj Group. Among others present were Dr. Ashok Dalwai, CEO, National Rainfed Area Authority, Sundeep Nayak, Director General, National Productivity Council and Harish Chavan, CEO, Swaraj India.
