If BJP Govt Continues All Polices and Schemes of Previous Govt without Changing Their Names and Colors, Odisha Will Progress: Santrupt Misra
Bhubaneswar: BJD President Naveen Patnaik’s role in turning Odisha into a prosperous state from bankruptcy is historic. The picture of Odisha has changed in various sectors under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik.
The BJD government-led by Naveen Patnaik worked for 8860 days. The new government is talking about 100 days of success. There is a correlation between success and coordination, said Santrupt Misra, Political Secretary to BJD President Naveen Patnaik.
If the incumbent BJP government continuous all the policies and schemes of the previous government without changing their names and colors, Odisha will progress, said the BJD national spokesperson.
Citing the recently released working paper by Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), Misra said that the paper has highly praised the Odisha’s economy changes between 2000 and 2024.
Odisha has been the top most state in the country in terms of fastest growth in per capita income in the last two decades. Naveen Patnaik’s success journey has been reflected in this report, he said.
Odisha’s contribution to national GDP was also significant. In 2001, Odisha’s relative per capita income was 55.8 percent. It reached to 88.5 percent in 2023-24. Odisha has outpaced major states in terms of GDP contribution. Odisha’s contribution to India’s GDP in 2000-01 was 2.3 percent. It increased to 2.8 percent in 2023-24. Odisha is ahead of Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
Naveen Patnaik has played an instrumental role for the development of Odisha by taking steps like poverty alleviation, semiconductor policy and school transformation programme. In 2000-2001, the per capita income of the people of Odisha was Rs 10,211. Now the per capita income is Rs 1,61, 437. 68.34 percent people were below the poverty line. Their number fell to 11 percent in 2022-23. The GDP of the state in 2000 was 46 thousand 756 crore rupees. In 2023-24, it has reached 8.3 lakh crores, Santrupt Misra said.
Coming down heavily on the BJP government, the BJD leader said that inflation has increased due to the policies of the central government. Economic development requires employment, law enforcement, and investment. If the law and order situation deteriorates, the investors will go back, he added.
