India U-16 Boys Team Featuring Odisha’s Debasis Sahoo Makes History by Winning Junior Davis Cup

New Delhi: India U-16 Boys Tennis Team featuring Odisha’s tennis player Debasis Sahoo on Saturday scripted history by winning the Junior Davis Cup Asia/ Oceania Final Qualifying 2022 at RK Khanna Stadium, New Delhi.

India beat Japan 2-1 in the final to win this event and qualify for the World Finals for the first time.

The Indian team comprised Odisha’s Debasis Sahoo, Rushil Khosla and Bushan Haobam, while Sajid Lodi was the captain.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Debasis Sahoo and India U-16 Boys Tennis Team for the feat.

Debasis, who hails from Dhenkanal district, is the second-best ranked player in the U-16 boys’ category in India. He is also the top-ranked player from the state in the U-16 and U-18 categories.
