Bhubaneswar: As many as 4166 secondary teachers have joined various schools-run by the Odisha Government. A Nijukti Parba was organized at the iconic Kalinga Stadium here on Tuesday.
Attending the programme, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik called upon the newly appointed teachers to instill deep confidence in the children. The CM also advised them to inspire the children to love our great country and its culture and feel proud of it.
Teachers will have an important role to play in building a new Odisha, an empowered Odisha in the 21st century, the CM said.
The Chief Minister further said that education instills basic knowledge and skills in children. It inculcates a competitive spirit in them and helps transform them into transformed citizens.
The goal of teachers is not only to create good students, but also to create good students as well as good human beings. Teaching is not just a profession but a mission to prepare Odisha for the future, the CM added.
Stating that the State Government has given utmost importance to education, the Chief Minister said that 6883 high schools have been transformed under the 5T initiative so far. This has resulted in a huge change in the infrastructure and overall environment of the school. This has transformed the education landscape of the State. Enrollment in government schools has increased significantly due to this, the Chief Minister said.
Stating that the State Government has launched the Mukhyamantri Shikhya Puraskar scheme to provide incentive to the education sector, he said that there is a provision for giving awards to all involved in the education sector. He said that a budget of Rs 138 crore per year has been approved for this. He said that these awards will be given to teachers, students, government schools, village Panchayats, school management committees, former students and district and block level education officials.
School and Mass Education Minister Sudam Marndi, 5T & Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian, Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, Commissioner-Cum-Secretary of Mass Education Department Aswathy S. and other senior officials attended the programme.
